| William A Hinke |
About our Father:William Hinke- Born in 1943, is a devoted and loving husband, Father to 7 children and grandfather to 4
(almost 5). He has worked in the airline industry 40+ years, and has remained an active and full-time
employee, a fact Thst will soon change due to his current diagnosis. William is a professional traveler and has had the pleasure of working with countless
people around the world. His joyful personality and good nature is contagious, and has been an asset in
building and maintaining relationships at home and around the world. In 1985 William's own father passed
away from Pancreatic cancer. We never imagined we would see IT again
On a Personal Note:
Our Father is and always has been the central force within our home. Growing up with a gentle and
magnanimous personality to look up to does something to a child. It has the ability fill you with AWE,
and comfort at the same time. It makes you hungry to see the joy, love and pride in your father's eyes.
It fills you full of perpetual respect, and it makes all of his moments of self-sacrafice so much more
Appreciated. His noble Character and steadast leadership of our Domectic church had a powerful effect on
us children. You would think that such righteousness would be somewhat intimidating, but in all honesty,
Dad has the ability to balance it all out with a Large dose of humble and a very proportionate dash of
playfulness. Dancing on daddy's shoes, riding piggy-back, racing cars on our electric racetrack, and
playing sock'em boppers was more than just a couple lousy cliches and a few rare intances....
It was the epitome of Our Life with Father.
The Diagnosis:
In January of 2012, our very active Father started turning a little yellow. After visiting the family
Doctor, it was suspected that he had contracted hepatitis. After being referred to a specialist, it was
found that the cause for jaundice was blockage of his liver's bile duct. After undergoing surgery to
insert a stint in his duct, more tests were recommended. A CT Scan would eventually show a tumor on the
upper portion of Dad's Pancreas. The Dr.s at MD Andersonwere fairly certain that the tumor was NOT
cancerous. But by the end of Feb 2012, dad was diagnosed with stage 2 Pancreatic Cancer. He has since
undergone his Chemotherapy and radiation treatment. It has been recommended that he undergo a
procedure known a "Whipple Surgery". We are currently researching other options.
Our Goal:
Our goal is to bring a face to pancreatic cancer. It is known as the "silent" killer, with little chance
of early detection and no routine screening. It is also the most underfunded of all cancer research, all
of this makes the war on pancreatic cancer one of the hardest to fight. It is our hope that through the
telling of our Father's story, we may bring hope to other pancreatic Cancer patients and breathe new life
into the cause to find a cure. Our intention is to blog our daily battles and recent findings. We invite
you to follow us on our journey. There may be tears, there may be struggles, but there will always be
Hope. We wait for our Father's healing....
In truth I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain,
"Be pulled up and thrown into the sea," with no doubt in
his heart, but believing that what he says will happen,
it will be done for him.
I tell you, therefore, everything you ask and pray for
believe that you have it already, and it will be yours
